AP 10th Class Maths Chapter 3 – Pair of Linear Equations in Two Variables Exercise 3.1 Solutions
Key Concept: a₁/a₂, b₁/b₂, c₁/c₂ Ratio Test
రెండు linear equations a₁x + b₁y + c₁ = 0 మరియు a₂x + b₂y + c₂ = 0 ఇచ్చినప్పుడు, వాటి పరస్పర సంబంధాన్ని ఈ మూడు నిష్పత్తుల ద్వారా తెలుసుకోవచ్చు:
| షరతు | రేఖల రకం | సొల్యూషన్స్ | Consistent/Inconsistent |
|---|---|---|---|
| a₁/a₂ ≠ b₁/b₂ | Intersecting | Unique Solution | Consistent |
| a₁/a₂ = b₁/b₂ ≠ c₁/c₂ | Parallel | No Solution | Inconsistent |
| a₁/a₂ = b₁/b₂ = c₁/c₂ | Coincident | Infinite Solutions | Consistent |
Question 1.
Form the pair of linear equations in the following problems, and find their solutions graphically.
i) 10 students… girls 4 more than boys
Let boys = x, girls = y
x + y = 10 … (1)
y = x + 4 … (2)
Table of values కోసం: Eq(1): x=0→y=10; x=10→y=0. Eq(2): x=0→y=4; x=3→y=7.
ii) 5 pencils + 7 pens = ₹50; 7 pencils + 5 pens = ₹46
Let pencil cost = x, pen cost = y
5x + 7y = 50 … (1)
7x + 5y = 46 … (2)
(1)×5: 25x+35y=250; (2)×7: 49x+35y=322
తీసివేస్తే: 24x = 72 → x = 3
y = (50−15)/7 = 5
Question 2.
On comparing the ratios a₁/a₂, b₁/b₂, c₁/c₂, find out whether the lines intersect, are parallel or coincident.
i) 5x − 4y + 8 = 0, 7x + 6y − 9 = 0
a₁=5, b₁=−4, c₁=8; a₂=7, b₂=6, c₂=−9
a₁/a₂ = 5/7, b₁/b₂ = −4/6 = −2/3
Intersecting lines — Consistent (Unique Solution)
ii) 9x + 3y + 12 = 0, 18x + 6y + 24 = 0
a₁=9, b₁=3, c₁=12; a₂=18, b₂=6, c₂=24
a₁/a₂ = 1/2, b₁/b₂ = 1/2, c₁/c₂ = 1/2
Coincident lines — Consistent (Infinite Solutions)
iii) 6x − 3y + 10 = 0, 2x − y + 9 = 0
a₁=6, b₁=−3, c₁=10; a₂=2, b₂=−1, c₂=9
a₁/a₂ = 3, b₁/b₂ = 3, c₁/c₂ = 10/9
a₁/a₂ = b₁/b₂ ≠ c₁/c₂, కాబట్టి Parallel lines — Inconsistent (No Solution)
Question 3.
Are the following pairs of linear equations consistent or inconsistent?
i) 3x + 2y = 5, 2x − 3y = 7
a₁=3, b₁=2, c₁=−5; a₂=2, b₂=−3, c₂=−7
a₁/a₂ = 3/2, b₁/b₂ = −2/3
Intersecting — Consistent (Unique Solution)
ii) 2x − 3y = 8, 4x − 6y = 9
a₁/a₂ = 2/4 = 1/2, b₁/b₂ = −3/−6 = 1/2, c₁/c₂ = −8/−9 = 8/9
Parallel — Inconsistent (No Solution)
iii) (3/2)x + (5/3)y = 7, 9x − 10y = 14
a₁/a₂ = (3/2)/9 = 1/6, b₁/b₂ = (5/3)/(−10) = −1/6
Intersecting — Consistent (Unique Solution)
iv) 5x − 3y = 11, −10x + 6y = −22
a₁/a₂ = 5/−10 = −1/2, b₁/b₂ = −3/6 = −1/2, c₁/c₂ = −11/−22 = 1/2
Coincident — Consistent (Infinite Solutions)
v) (4/3)x + 2y = 8, 2x + 3y = 12
a₁/a₂ = (4/3)/2 = 2/3, b₁/b₂ = 2/3, c₁/c₂ = −8/−12 = 2/3
Coincident — Consistent (Infinite Solutions)
Question 4.
Which pairs are consistent/inconsistent? If consistent, find solution graphically.
i) x + y = 5, 2x + 2y = 10
Coincident — Consistent (Infinite Solutions)
ii) x − y = 8, 3x − 3y = 16
a₁/a₂ = 1/3 = b₁/b₂, కానీ c₁/c₂ = 8/16 = 1/2 ≠ 1/3 → Parallel — Inconsistent (No Solution)
iii) 2x + y − 6 = 0, 4x − 2y − 4 = 0
a₁/a₂ = 2/4 = 1/2, b₁/b₂ = 1/−2 = −1/2 → సమానం కాదు → Intersecting — Consistent
సాధించగా: 2x+y=6 → y=6−2x; 4x−2y=4 → y=2x−2
6−2x = 2x−2 → 8=4x → x=2, y=2
iv) 2x − 2y − 2 = 0, 4x − 4y − 5 = 0
a₁/a₂ = 2/4 = 1/2 = b₁/b₂, కానీ c₁/c₂ = 2/5 ≠ 1/2 → Parallel — Inconsistent (No Solution)
Question 5.
Half the perimeter of a rectangular garden, whose length is 4 m more than its width, is 36 m. Find the dimensions.
Solution:
Half perimeter = l + b = 36
l = b + 4
b + 4 + b = 36 → 2b = 32 → b = 16
l = 16 + 4 = 20
పొడవు (Length) = 20 m, వెడల్పు (Breadth) = 16 m
Question 6.
Given 2x + 3y − 8 = 0, write another linear equation such that the pair represents:
Solution:
ఇచ్చినది: a₁=2, b₁=3, c₁=−8
i) Intersecting lines (a₁/a₂ ≠ b₁/b₂):
ఉదాహరణ: 3x + 2y − 7 = 0 (2/3 ≠ 3/2)
ii) Parallel lines (a₁/a₂ = b₁/b₂ ≠ c₁/c₂):
ఉదాహరణ: 4x + 6y − 5 = 0 (2/4=1/2=3/6, కానీ −8/−5 ≠ 1/2)
iii) Coincident lines (a₁/a₂ = b₁/b₂ = c₁/c₂):
ఉదాహరణ: 4x + 6y − 16 = 0 (అసలు సమీకరణాన్ని 2 తో గుణించగా వచ్చినది)
Question 7.
Draw the graphs of x − y + 1 = 0 and 3x + 2y − 12 = 0. Find the triangle formed with the x-axis.
Solution:
x − y + 1 = 0 → y = x + 1
Table: x=−1→y=0; x=0→y=1; x=2→y=3
3x + 2y − 12 = 0 → y = (12−3x)/2
Table: x=0→y=6; x=4→y=0; x=2→y=3
(Point B: 4,0).
Vertices: A(−1, 0), B(4, 0), C(2, 3)
ఈ Exercise నుండి గుర్తుంచుకోవాల్సినవి
- a₁/a₂, b₁/b₂, c₁/c₂ ల ratio test గుర్తుంటే, గ్రాఫ్ గీయకుండానే consistent/inconsistent చెప్పవచ్చు
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. Consistent, Inconsistent
2. Coincident lines
